Tell the Kids I Love Them is my genre-defying book about fathers and sons, love and loss and war and lacrosse. Threaded with dark humor, it blends investigative reporting, epistolary storytelling and poetry with writing about history and mental health. It was inspired by an essay of the same name I wrote for Oxford American magazine in 2022. That essay has been recognized by The New York Times, The Best American Essays and Longreads.com.
